Before Aeration 

• pick up all dog poop, hoses, and toys

• FLAG ALL sprinkler heads and low lying cables like invisible dog fences or internet lines (they should be buried 6" deep but a lot of times they are not) as I am not responsible for damaged unflagged obstacles

• water heavily the night before so the ground is soft, resulting in better plugs

• mow grass short as a shorter lawn helps aerator tines penetrate the soil more deeply 

After Aeration 

• the plugs will disintegrate back into the lawn naturally, watering can speed that along

After Fertilization

• make sure to water, fertilizer needs to be wet to start working

• if the fertilizer was high nitrogen like 34-0-0 make sure to water as soon as possible as it can burn the lawn if it stays dry too long on the grass (fertilizer used for overseeding fescue is         18-24-12)

After Seeding

• Water about every other day for the first two weeks, then return to normal watering schedule
